[net.micro.atari] Amiga is really an Atari !!

plw@panda.UUCP (Pete Williamson) (08/08/85)

I was one of those Atari enthusiasts that bought the 800 when it cost
a bundle. I have never regretted it since! It was a landmark machine in
graphics (price/performance) and in operating system software.

But as we all know, the designers of that system left Atari. Instead of
a second generation of graphics architecture and obvious computer group
upgrades in processing power, memory, and mass storage, Atari merely
repackaged the same product a few times (many of them unsuccessful). They
didn't even bother to increase players and missles and playfields.

When Jack T. revived Atari, I once again hoped that new architectual
advances might happen (special graphics processors, etc.) Although I
presently own neither an ST or an Amiga, it sure looks to me, from the
technical descriptions I have read, that the only thing "Atari" about the
ST is its name. The Amiga, I believe, is the "Atari" that I'm looking for.

If this is really the situation, I suspect that this newsgroup will
change its name. Anybody agree/disagree ??
