gyuri@cvl.UUCP (Gyorgy Fekete) (08/23/85)

I want to sell the book "Presenting the ATARI ST".I already hae an ST
with the developers kit, so I have no more use for this book.

The book is a first look at the ST, useful if you are thinking of getting
one, but the dealers you talk to don't know their a**ed from a hole in the
ground, so you are left in the dark, or ...

Anyway, here is the table of contents (my comments in parens):

1. Introducing the 16-bit processors
1.1 The true 16-bit processor	(boring)
1.2 the 68000 processor (if you haven't seen one, it's ok)
1.3 the 68000 instruction set	(detto)
1.4 advanced features of the 68000	(links, user/sup. modes)

2. Architecture of the ST (This chapter is the meat of the book)
2.1 Atari ST interfaces (has a memory map)
	2.2 Floppy disk interface
	2.3 The hard disk
	2.4 high speed through DMA
	2.5 The printer interface
	2.6 The serial interface
2.7 the mfp 68901 (multifunction peripheral)
					(interrupts, timers, usart)
					(table of interrupt priorities)
2.8 sound capabilities of the ATARI ST
					(AY-3-8910 type)
	2.9 the MIDI interface
2.10 The Atari ST keyboard	(6850 ACIA + single chip
					keyb.processor with 4K ROM)/
2.11 The Atari ST video interface	(RF still in the description)

3. The Atari ST opertaing system
	3.1 the CPM operating system
	3.2 BDOS functions
3.3 the BIOS of the Atari ST	(some neat trap numbers you can use)

4. Towards a user-friendly computer	(this is a really BS chapter)
	4.1 The traditional office
4.2 Prerequisites for a friendly computer
(like saying "Hey, nice shirt!" -- Give me a brake!)
	4.3 The mouse
4.3.1 Working with the mouse (I am not kidding)

5. Working with GEM (describes the Mac :-) almost)
	5.1 Menus
	5.2 Windows under GEM
	5.3 The disk directory
5.4 Working with files under GEM
	5.5 Inside GEM
	5.6 Virtual device interface
	5.7 Application Environment services
6. Communication between man and machine	(another BS chapter)
	6.1 Computer languages
	6.3 Problem-oriented programming languages (where's 6.2?)
	6.4 interpretive languages
	6.5 high-level programming languages

7. LOGO
	7.1 Procedures in LOGO (thin)
	7.2 Summary

Well, there it is. Including the index, it is 197 pages.
I am asking for $13/offer. First $13 offer, or best offer under
$13 (but above $7.99) during the next seven days from the time
I post this will take the book.
