[net.micro.atari] Interfacing an ST

collinge@uvicctr.UUCP (Doug Collinge) (09/13/85)

I am interested in interfacing some magic hardware to an ST.
I see two possibilities: the DMA port and the cartridge slot.
However, this hardware needs to be written to and
>>>>>>>>>> the cartridge slot does not have R/W! <<<<<<<<<<
I couldn't believe this when I saw it but it's true. However,
this can be probably be overcome by using a high-order address
line as R/W and agreeing to write only to one half of the
address space and to read only from the other half. See any
problems with this? Excepting "Yeccchhh!", of course.
The problem with the DMA port is that I don't know how it works.
Can anyone enlighten me? DMA would be nice for this particular
hardware.
