Marc,
How close is your company too deciding if you will do the port. And if
you ddecide to do the port, what sort of time frame are we looking at.
And (if your really ambitious) what cost?

One of the factors in the decision is the finacial arrangement with Microware ,
if it is such that we have to charge $300 - $400 for the package (which is what
it is selling for on some machines ) then we have to take a hard look at it
being a viable product. We think a $100-$150 price to the end user would be a
limit that most will pay , I am currently talking to dealers and distributors
to get an idea of volumes and pricing . We keep getting the same answers from
dealers ... why would anybody other than a present OS9 user pay $100 to $150
for a O.S when they get a free one with the machine?? That attitude from
dealers and a lack of interest at this point makes it rough for ANY company to
want to put money into that sort of project. WE are very interested and I
personally want OS9/68000 on the ST and as soon as a decision is made (possibly
in the next 2 weeks) we will announce the decision and projected release dates
of BETA copies
.... Thanx for your interest .... Marc

If/when you become relatively sure of it then alot more people will be
interested. Do you foresee a graphics interface? What qualifications would
one need to receive a beta-test copy?
