[net.micro.atari] *Cheap* Atari modems....

madden@nmtvax.UUCP (09/23/85)

I noticed atari modems in the Sept. BYTE for $30.00 from Computer Mail
Order, and was kind of wondering about them: collecting dust in a box
somewhere is an Atari 600XL, and I'd really like to turn the sucker into
a home terminal of sorts. WILL THIS DO THE TRICK???? (I know what CMO will
tell me :-)
I don't have a disk drive, or anything else worthy of note. There is
nothing I need to kermit, all I want is dial up to check my mail. Perhaps
in the future I might get ambitious and build something that will give
me 80 columns so I can use EMACS, but that is on a way-way-way back burner.
If anyone can tell me all the dirt on the modem, I'd be most appreciative.
Let me know any way you feel fitting....
              Thanx in advance,

Socorro, NM 87801 | start packing.

 I thought it was neat."

and neither does anyone else around here.
