I did some research in the Computer Shopper (October), and here are some interesting numbers from the ads listing 520STs for "$CALL": Company 520ST w/COLOR B&W ------- ----- ------- Dyscom Computers p. 178 $770 (*) $650 (*) 1279 Tumbleweed NE (see below) (see below) Uniontown, OH 44685 (216) 877-1197 Computer Creations p. 260 $839 $689 P.O. Box 493 Dayton, OH 45459 (800) 824-7506 Lyco Computer p. 17 $860 $679 P.O. Box 5088 Jersey Shore, PA 17740 (800) 233-8760 White House Computer p. 181 $870 $749 P.O. Box 4025 Williamsport, PA 17701 (800) 351-3442 Scottsdale Systems Ltd. p. 5 $899 $699 617 N. Scottsdale Rd. Suite B Scottsdale, AZ 85257 (602) 941-5856 Explanation of (*): Atari's warranty procedure seems to be kind of strange -- I guess they're leaving it up to the dealer. Most dealers are including a warranty in the quoted price, but Dyscom Computers is NOT; they're charging 5% of the purchase price for a 90-day warranty. I don't know what it covers. All these prices include the unit, the mouse, a disk drive, and the standard O.S. software. I asked some of these places if they sold the Developer's package ($300 from Atari), and Computer Creations said they have something called the "Development C Package" for 90. The guy on the order line doesn't know what is in it, and I'm not going to pay to find out. DISCLAIMER: I am not affiliated with any of the companies cited here, nor with Atari or the publisher of the Computer Shopper. The prices listed here were obtained either from published material or from telephone calls to the companies listed, and are provided only as a service to interested people. James E.
