NOTE: I don't know WHO this should be sent to, but the current msgs floating around on the INFO-ATARI list prompt this reply ( *** FLAME ON *** ): From what I understand, USENET people are complaining about the errors that they get from foriegn mailers when something goes wrong w/ a msg they post. 1) This happens to ARPA people to, you are not alone so don't feel persecuted. 2) Who SHOULD the error reports go to? Not all mailer problems occur in "mailing-list" situations. If I send a msg to an Oregon USENET computer through the UCB gateway, >I< want to know that it didn't get there, so I can re-send it! Why should the UCB postmaster be bothered with something he/she neither known nor cares about? 3) As far as I can determine, at least SOME of these errors are consistant. Meaning that it wasn't just a host down somewhere, we are trying to send msgs to people whose accounts no longer exist. I believe that AT LEAST some of this problem would be alleviated if someone just ERASED the "problem" addresses from the mailing list. (I have NOT had this problem w/ INFO-CPM, for example....) Sorry about the flame guys, but it had to be said. BTW: If any of my assumptions are wrong, feel free to reply. But maybe we should stop sending this stuff to the INFO-ATARI list?i -Richard Hartman max.hartman@ames-vmsb ------
