The following are a few interesting tidbits. An ST developer locally (Users group) said that Atari had just liscenced SYS-V Unix from AT&T. Can anybody confirm?

According to the information I got from an ATARI users group meeting earlier this week, ATARI has indeed brought the rights to the UNIX system-V. Nothing is really known, for sure anyway, about AT&T becoming an OEM for the 520ST, but the possibility exists. As an aside, the 520TT ( 32-bit/32-bit ) is in the works!!

At an users group meeting in Seattle last Monday attended by some Atari brass (including Leonard Tramiel) they said that Unix will be coming in 5-6 months. From my understanding of their answers to several questions the Unix system will be primarily directed towards the next ST (the 1040???) but it will run on the 520 if you have expanded its memory. dgc

> >An ST developer locally (Users group) said that Atari had just liscenced >SYS-V Unix from AT&T. Can anybody confirm? Computer Systems News reported the licensing this week. According to Tramiel, UNIX will be available on the 1024ST (which will be packaged with a hard disk) and a NS32032 based machine. No offering for the 520ST will be made; "more powerful hardware" was said to be required, presumably a memory management unit. Now let's see them bring one out for $1500 in six months.... then I'll be happy! "I'd like one of those, please..." Kevin Eric Saunders kevin@lasspvax.tn.cornell.edu

Can anybody confirm? *** REPLACE THIS LINE WITH YOUR MESSAGE *** its twue, its twue and i can hardly wait, atari will be porting SV to an upgraded 520 (more memory ) and there is talk about a full port (with virtual memory) to an 68020 based unit which will be an "add on" to the 520. -- god bless Lily St. Cyr -Rocky Horror Picture Show Name: James Turner Mail: Imagen Corp. 2650 San Tomas Expressway, P.O.
