[net.micro.atari] Atari documentation, & OSS address/phone

Over the past few months, I've been searching for a good technical reference
guide or two for the 8-bit Atari's (I own a 1200XL). Two books that were
recommended are "Your Atari Computer", by Lon Poole, and "Technical User Notes"
(author unspecified). I've scoured the bookstores and computer magazine
ads, but haven't found anybody that sells the first, or can get the second
(Computer Palace, in Eugene OR advertises the latter, but in fact doesn't
have it and can't get it). If anybody knows where I can get either of these
books, I'd appreciate a pointer (e-mail, please). Also, is "De Re Atari"
a good book to own (I currently depend heavily on Compute!'s
"Mapping the Atari" for all my info)?
Also, while I'm here, I own a Indus disk drive, and want to order both the
new DOS (with "Synchromesh") and the DOS Reference manual. All around both
the documentation and software, they say things like "Write or call us...
we'd like to hear from you!"; the only problem is that they don't give a
telephone number or address. If somebody has that handy and could e-mail it
to me, I'd be eternally grateful.

	     DATE: October 31,	1985
TO: Atari Deep Blue C users
	     FROM: Bill Swortwood
          SUBJECT: Lack of Scanf

I have been working on my 'C' programming and have found
that one of the most common feature of 'C', scanf , is not part
of the I/O library. Before I undertake trying to re-invent the
wheel,	I want to plead	to anyone out there that has had the same
problem	and has	already	written	the source code	to send a copy
here for us novices who are going through extreme pains to just
	learn the language.

Also, for the user who wants a copy of the	Technical
Reference for the Atari as well as the	book 'Your Atari', I have
some suggestions as to where to	obtain these.

For the Technical Reference, try :

	       B & C Computervisions
		3283 Kifer Rd.
	       Santa Clara, Ca.	95051
	       (408) 245-2680

		    or

	       San Jose	Computer
	       1844 Almaden Rd.
	       San Jose, Ca. 95125
	       (408) 723-2025

There is also a new SAMS Technical	Reference for the 400/800
at Computer Literacy in Sunnyvale Ca.	(which,	mind you, has one
of the few large selections of Just computer related books on the
	planet).

	bye for	now,

	Bill Swortwood

Disclaimer: Amdahl Corporation has no connection with my personal
PC ownership or use thereof, they just make very, very fast and
reliable mainframes and	pay me to help continue	the effort to do
	so.
