You may not remember when the term 'personal computer' meant just that in any generic sense, but you are in a minority of one. If you still don't believe me, just look through any old issue of magazines such as 'Byte' in the pre-IBM-PC days, when men were men. I distinctly remember thinking at the time when IBM announced their 'PC' that it was a shame they called it that (although a clever marketing move). They have forever tainted a perfectly good word, much the same as the media has ruined the wonderful word 'hacker'. Kurt Godden GM Research Labs
