Some information on modems that might be of interest to all: The latest issue of the newsletter from CompuClub lists the Communicator II kit, which includes the 835 Modem and software, for $25.95 while the supply lasts. I believe that kit also included the CompuServe starter kit with 5 hours of free time. If so, you would get the 835 modem for free! On October 13, Neil Harris, managing publisher of 'Atari Explorer' gave a talk at the meeting of the Northern Virginia Atari Users Group (no I wasn't there), and he said that the XM-301 modem is shipping from Atari. The software was written by Russ Wetmore and so it is very similar to HomeTerm from Batteries Included. The list price is $49.95, but it only includes one hour of free time on CompuServe. It's advantages are that it is very small and has no separate power supply. He also said that Atari is not currently working on a 1200 bps modem for the 8-bit machines. Hope this helps...
