Does anyone out on the net know whether or not the 1400XL and 1450XL machines ever made it into production? I keep hearing rumors that there are both types in use by various people but my understanding was that they were prototyped only. Of course how many were prototyped is questionable. If more than 100 were built up then I would consider it limited production. If anyone has one of these in their hands please respond. Is it useable and do you wish to sell it? In a similar note: both Antic and A.N.A.L.O.G. magazines mentioned in the past a "1600XL" machine. Was this a 128k machine and if so, was it the predecessor of the 130XE? In a similar vein, were any of the 1600XL's built and if so, are they available from anyone? If the 1600XL was a 128K machine, was it software compatible with the 130XE or did it get developed far enough to say. I have seen the 1090XL expansion boxes. Several of the user groups obtained them from Best Electronics who were selling them locally last summer at a computer show. They were barebones, with no p/s or doc's. They did not look like they were operational. Does anyone know, did this project ever get to the stage of being saleable/operational and if so, are they available? Similarly, did the C/PM module ever get built/operational and are they available? Atari Inc. has come up with many good ideas that some of us would like to have been able to purchase, but the products never made it to marketplace. Atari Corp. under Jack Tramiel is continuing the tradition, what with the 65XE, 130ST, etc. I wish they would do more marketing surveys and less marketing by advertising potential products. At least Atari Inc. seemed to bring most of their ideas to some form of limited production or prototyping even though they never made it to the marketplace. Thanks in advance for any information or other. --Bill--
