1. keep the database of addresses to which the list is forwarded UP TO DATE (this is the most important function). 2. provide some way for all addresses listed in the database to receive each posted message individually, but NOT get bounced mail. (Suggestions for doing this were posted to the list about a month ago; they are in the archives.) (this is the second most important function). 3. have a lot of disk space to hold the archives, which includes every message posted, and a moderate amount of software donated to the list. 4. have the archives in a location where EVERYONE on the Arpanet, and possibly everyone on the usenet, can list the directories and ftp the files. 5. respond to requests for archive files to be mailed to users without ftp access. 6. take submissions from users and put them in the archives, provided they are offered WITH NO STRINGS ATTACHED (i.e. they must be in the public domain). 7. (note:the archives are now located on su-score.arpa in directory ps:<mrc.atari>*.* . The database is on su-score.arpa in file ps:<g.tang>atari.dis . New moderators will also want to see the atari-related lines in <mail>mailing-lists.txt on score.) --jh-- e-mail: post: jh@mit-athena.MIT.EDU (preferred) Joe Harrington jh%oz@mit-mc.MIT.EDU 69 Chestnut Street Cambridge, Massachusetts 02139
