Thanks you all for all the information. What I gather
is the following:
1) Color is worse than b/w (for hacking)
1) Color isn't that bad, but...
1) Better get Color!
2) Single Sided disks are better ($),
provided one gets a hardisk.
2) Double Sided disks are better for me.
3) Dealers carrying it are:
-- Computerland on Hawthorne Blvd
(160000 south or so)
-- Lamar Microelectronics on Artesia Blvd
(between Inglewood & Aviation) (213) 374-1673
-- Personal Computers Etc. on Topanga Canyon
in Woodland Hills
-- CompuStart (on Wilshire, between 21-22 st).
I got mine here. Cheaper than Lamar.
-- Priority One Electronics in Chatsworth
(but they try to cheat you)
4) Paul Lamar can do an upgrade to 1 Meg ($300).
So can CompuStart ($200), and both void the warrantee.
5) The Citizen MSP-10 is a good choice for a printer.
The kit includes the following ($321):
-- text editor (MicroEmacs)
-- C compiler (a Digital Research, Inc. port of Alcyon C)
-- assembler
-- linker
-- utilities
-- Kermit
-- Resource Construction Set
-- It is well worth the money!
I got mine at CompuStart, and I paid around $2700 for a loaded
system (color, 1M, 2d2d, printer, dev kit, random software).
I'm not associated with CompuStart (blames to /dev/^1/tihs).
I really appreciated your messages. It really made me
change my mind about what I bought. Thanks a lot!
Adolfo
