[net.micro.atari] Printers for the ST?

espen@well.UUCP (Peter Espen) (12/27/85)

Can I please get some replys regarding what kind of printers people
are using with their 520ST's. I am particularly interested in ....
	1. Price
	2. Printing speed
	3. Does the printer do high res. graphics
	4. Does it do letter quality
	5. Are you using the parallel port
	6. Where did you get the software driver for the ST-printer.
	7. Good points, and bad points of the printer.

ANy replys or information would be appreciated!
	Thanks.... Peter Espen.

The printer that I feel is best for the ST is the Panasonic 1092. It retails
for around $400, but I've seen it as low as $329. It is 180 characters per
second, has draft, condensed, near letter quality, proportional draft, and
proportional near letter quality modes selectable from the top of the printer,
not to mention more from software. It takes single or tractor feed paper, and
will automatically advance the paper to the paper bail for you. The tractor is
behind the paper roller so that you don't have to waste 1 sheet of paper like
with most other printers. The mode that it comes with is Epson compatible and
it also has some IBM modes.
It seems to work fine for screen dumps and works with ST-writer, 1st word,
and Final Word. It supports the international character set as well as graphics
characters. You might have to wait a few weeks if you order one as I'm told
they are nationally back ordered.
