After only one evening of examining OSS's pascal I am impressed. 1) The documentation is much clearer than Atari's own development kit and it flows logically. 2)It supports almost all GEM functions with some exceptions (redundant functions). Actually it allows access to even those functions if you have DRI assembler or C compiler. 3)The programming environment is integrated very nicely into the ST GEM. You do your compilation via a pull down menu. The compilation and linking process seems pretty fast. 4)Sections covered: + Gem Initialization and Exiting + Alert Boxes + Dialog Boxes + Predefined Dialog boxes + The menu bar + Window management + Window Text and Graphics + Mouse control + Event management routines + GEM messages + Miscellaneous routines OSS Pascal allows seperate program module compilation for later linking. So one is able to build libraries, etc. The documentation comes in a bound book with ~250 pages of info. The cost is around $80. I prefer to work in C but the elegance of OSS programming environment will force me to work in Pascal. I compiled four of the included programs and found the compilation speed reasonably fast. ---- You can reach OSS at: OSS can be reached at 1221 B Kentwood Avenue, San Jose CA 95129 408-446-3099 ---- not affiliated in anyway with OSS
