[net.micro.atari] What do RAS and CAS have to do with ROMS?

tlz@druxu.UUCP (ZrustTL) (01/14/86)

I fail to see the relationship between adding TOS ROMS (which don't
connect to CAS and RAS) and the destruction of DRAMS because of
undershoot on CAS and RAS. I think the problem probably exists when
only the extra DRAM is added.

If indeed the DRAM is being wiped out by undershoot, the resistors
are a very good solution. I just don't think this has anything to
do with the ROMs being installed also (unless there is some bizzare
interaction between the additional load on the address lines and
CAS and RAS in the controller chip or DRAM). If anyone at Atari is
reading this and knows what is really happening here, I'd love to
hear from you.

Rule #1: Use lots of antistatic protection when doing these mods!
