[net.micro.atari] Where are the XL`s?

I know that this is group is for ATARI relates subjects. Ok, fine,
what about the old 8-bit XL series? All (mostly) that I ever see
in this column is news, questions and advise about the ST series.

Some of us out here in netland are poor starving programmers, students,
etc. and can`t afford $1000.00+ for a PC. Also even though you can`t
run UNIX or some of the more complicated routines on the XL series
(400, 600, 800, etc.) my 800XL and I get along just fine and have a
great time in the evenings. There are many great games for the XLs
as well as lots of useful business, learning, and other types of
programs floating around out there.

Lets have more programs, news, notes, and comments on the XL series.

Agreed wholehardedly! While the XL/XE series can't "run" UNIX, with the
Chameleon software program from Antic, you can use any Atari computer to
interface with a UNIX/UNIX clone system. That is how I get on line with
the net from home. 130XE > tekigm2 > net.world. Chameleon converts your
Atari to a VT52 (or VT52XL) terminal, the termcap is listed in the docu-
mentation furnished on the disk for Chameleon.

We still need net.XL/XE and net.ST created!
