[net.micro.atari] re. 850 interface

When the atari first came out, I couldn't see paying $160 for an 850 interface
so I hacked the capabilities I needed for printer and modem in software and
used about $5 worth of hardware through the joystick port.
Last week I finally bought the 850 since I couldn't resist the price of only
$25. This place also had 800XL for $69, and Atari disk drives for $75.
(While supply lasted although I believe they are still receiving shipments).
I can't remember the place, but I'm sure similar prices are available at
other "salvage" retail stores.

Will the guy/gal who got an 850 interface for $25.00 please tell ME
(heh, heh, and NOT the net, at least until I've Got Mine) the
phone number to call to order one? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!x10**6)

Was this a serious posting? Having just laid out $149 for an 850 Interface,
I am suspicious. I can believe $25 for maybe the main board or something
similar as I have seen parts advertised in magazines for roughly this amount
-- but not the whole 850 interface. As far as disk drives go, maybe $75 for
an 810, but the 1050 disk drive is still the current model and is going
for from anywhere around $160 to $199. Like others who have responded to
this posting, I would like to know who and where as I would not mind buying
an 850 for $25 or an 1050 for $75. I just question the reality of this.
I have seen 800XL's going for $69, Sear's had them for that until they
cleared them all out. The local computer stores still are selling them
for $99, sometimes on sale for $89.

By the way, should anyone be interested, I B Computers, 1519 S. W. Marlow Ave.,
Portland, OR 97225, still has 850 Interfaces for sale. I have no interest in
nor do I work for I B Computers.
