******line eater*********** I have a 600XL machine that I want to set up as a home controller. One of the first jobs I have in mind is to run the sprinkler system in my yard. Some other jobs might be to control the heating cooling systems, lighting, alarms, etc. I would be very interested in hearing other ideas and uses that such a machine could be put to. Also, if anyone has some controller type programs for the Atari XLs, I would be happy to get hold of a copy since I believe that much of what I want to do has already been written by someone...in some form or another. One specific item that I need it a real time clock . I found how the real time clock reg. works from reading 'Mapping the Atari', published by Compute!/ABC . The discussion on the clock registers mentions an article in COMPUTE!, Aug 1982 (I think) telling how to program a clock that stays up on the screen during Basic Programming. This sounds like what I need to interface with some driver type software to control things around the house, (Why re-invent the wheel when you can steal it ? ). Also does anyone know where I can get a copy of the Programer's Reference Manual for the 600XL? This documentation is mentioned in some of the *notes* that come packed in the box. Is this document even worth having. In addition, I have not found another source for schematic diagrams for the 600XL, other than SAMS Photo-Fact which cost as much as the computer itself.... I have looked at some of the books that claim to contain hundreds of useful projects for the atari and similar computers, but have been very disappointed with most, (they refer mostly to toys). Can anyone recomend a *good* publication for controller type projects? If there is enough interest I will post a summary of the various ideas received to the net. Roger Swann !ssc-vax!clark As usual, I will disavow any knowledge of my actions!
