Someone mentioned that they have already converted a number of C sources to Action!. Are any of these programs useful? Would a general posting (or an upload to the info-atari archives) be appropriate? Does ANYONE have any interesting/useful 8-bit software that is PD distributable? -Richard Hartman max.hartman@ames-vmsb ------

I have a collection of PD programs in Action, primarily from 3 sources: -The bbs that Clint Parker (author of Action) maintained until last Fall. -The bbs that OSS (marketer of Action et al) sometimes maintains. -A few things that I adapted or wrote. There are various utilities, including a good UNIX terminal with termcap, examples of how to make the Atari do various things with graphics etc., nothing significant in complete games. I am quite willing to upload all of this, if it isn't much hassle to distribute or post or archive or whatever. I hesitate to post it because it would make a lot of traffic on the net and would expire soon anyway. I have no idea whether some of it is the archives, because I don't know how to access that or add to it. (Where does one learn that?) One program, Palevich's VT52 emulator + kermit, was once mentioned as if it was posted or archived, for example. How Public Domain can programs ever be that are translations of copyrighted magazine programs, or of UNIX C utilities? Not much, I fear. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Bruce Langdon L-472 langdon%lll-lcc@lll-crg.ARPA Physics Department "langdon#bruce%d"@lll-mfe.ARPA Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Livermore, CA 94550 (415) 422-5444 UUCP: ..{gymble,ihnp4,seismo}!lll-crg!lll-lcc!langdon
