Earlier, I read a posting that suggested that ST's with the metal shielding soldered shut may not accomodate more RAM. Well, I only let it panic me a bit and tried to install the RAM anyway. I succeeded in installing the extra RAM and there is plenty of room for the piggybacked chips in my ST (my serial number is in the 10390xx range). The installation (using Joe Augenbraun's instructions) only took me 2 1/2 hours. I have to qualify that; several years ago I represented the United States in the "International Skill Olympics" in Industrial Engineering. Suggestions: - Edit Joe's instructions so you can read them while working (I tended to skim his instructions and inadvertently leave steps out). - Don't go to Radio Shack for 68 ohm 1/4 watt resistors (they don't have them) and DO use 1/4 watt resistors. - Remember which screws go where: there are three lengths of screw. Then again, I do work a bit too quickly for my own good. I guess my current question is: how am I gonna get the TOS ROMs installed now? Good luck! H.
