[net.micro.atari] Okay, let me have it...

[Where do all the eaten lines go?...]

I got a call from a friend of mine last night who told me he's thinking
about buying a computer to use for his small business and is looking at the
ST. Now, I've been away from the microcomputer world for a couple of years,
and all this sort of took me by surprise -- I spent last night going through
net.micro* trying to catch up. What I'd like from all you wonderful netters
out there is whole bunches of information about what's what: What's the
poop about the ST line? Is the "development kit" generally available, or
do you have to be a development house? What's being sold to the general
public -- everything? How good is the 520ST? What about the 1040ST?
Availability? Accessories? Software? What's the TFM machine (it was
referenced in an article wrt UN*X on an ST ROM)? What's the source of the
heated debate over Amiga vs. ST? What's the 'info-atari' user I keep seeing
on a lot of the postings? Is Atari on Usenet now? Is there truth in the
UN*X-for-the-ST rumor? What would be the anticipated cost of a 1040ST with
1Meg of RAM, a 10Mb hard disk, monitor, and printer? Recommended dealers
in the L.A. area? What's the meaning of 42? (Just kidding ;-))
Anyway, you get the idea, I hope. Please mail any responses (gee, I *hope*
there are responses) to:

"So, what can you do with a computer?"
"Anything you want."
