[net.micro.atari] Do you have these problems with VIP Professional?

tlz@druxu.UUCP (ZrustTL) (02/09/86)

I've been (trying) to use VIP for a home finance system with some
pretty bizarre results. I've got a fairly small (200X50) worksheet
and the 12/18/85 update of VIP. I'm using the TOS system disk as is
(standard desk acc. files) and a 1 meg ST without TOS ROMs. /WS tells
me I've got 288K of available memory after the worksheet is loaded. Now
here are some of the nasty things I see:

1. Lots of "2 system error" and "3 system error" messages, garbled
worksheets (things moved around in random places), lockups and
mushrooms especially when doing CALC after a few items are added
to the sheet. This also seems to happen when doing /WIC or WIR
commands. After the system errors occur, nothing is recoverable.
I assume these errors are processor exceptions, does anyone
know what the 2 and 3 system errors represent?

2. Loss of data and column skewing when doing range prints. I'm using
    a Gemini 10X printer.

Problem 1 has rendered VIP useless to me. I don't want to use up
any of my customer service allocation on what are possibly bugs in
the program itself, so please let us know on the net if you have
encountered similar or other problems. If you have a system setup
similar to mine, have beat on VIP to some extent and DON'T have
any problems, please send me mail or post this info on the net.
Thanks!
