I have just been using a friend's copy of PC-Intercomm, so I don't need anyone telling me that I deserve the mess I've gotten myself into. But here is what happened. I write protected the disk so I wouldn't alter anything. I then tried to download a file from a mainframe using the kermit protocol. I got a standard error message since the disk was write protected. I stuck in another disk (which, of course, was an important disk) and proceeded normally. When I exitted from PC-Intercomm, I found that the directory of the second disk was written over with the directory from the PC-Intercomm disk. Using the Public Domain SectorEd program, I found that the directory is definitely written over, but most of the text is still intact. Now for the good part: does anyone know how I can recover random data from a disk? Is there an easier solution than creating a directory by hand? I would appreciate ANY help.
