Everone with an ST has probably figured out how the order in which accessories appear in the desk menu is determined if the system is booted with TOS.IMG. The ordering rule is different when TOS is in ROM. It seems that desktop accessories appear in the desk menu in an order which is the reverse of the relative order in which the .acc files were copied onto the boot disk (with at least one exception). So, with lots of accessories you can have VT52 up at the top (if you wish) by making sure it is the last accessory copied (and the FREE RAMSIZE accessory is disabled). The one exception I have noticed is the FREE RAMSIZE accessory which is always at the top (but that is ok with me since I use it all the time). Also, it seems that when Mike's RAMDISK is installed memory is never deallocated so eventually the machine just runs out of space (I haven't tried this accessory without TOS in ROM - for all I know it might do the same thing in that case - it seems to me that if the contents of a certain key memory location were changed periodically one could probably keep available memory from slipping away (but I haven't looked for that location yet)). I have to use Mike's RAMDISK for the moment since the 1040 PD RAMDISK doesn't work at all with TOS in ROM. Also, the PD Fontloader does not seem to work. However, everything is back to normal if you put the TOS.IMG file back on the boot disk.
