I disagree: hugging, like every other human activity, is different when the
feelings behind it are different.  Hugging a friend is a moment of warmth
between you that underscores your friendship. Hugging a lover ("that true
hug") is a different prospect entirely, and if it really is "that true hug",
then you'll both know that it's different, and hugging someone who's "just a
friend" can never be like that.  I have also found that hugging someone you
DON'T really care for, because it's the thing to do, feels decidedly empty
and unsatisfying.  If you haven't noticed these things when you hug, you're
just not doing it right.
