@ You are right that a friend's hug is different from a lover's. In my case, my lover has also been my best friend and nobody's hug has ever matched hers. If it's a friend, it would have to be a true, trusted friend or as you said the hug will be empty and such a friend is very hard to find (at least for me). What I was objecting to was that the original article seemed to suggest hugging almost anyone and seemed to abstract the hug and make the other person (his/her feelings, beliefs, personality) almost irrelevant. If that is true, I certainly don't agree (If `abstract' sex doesn't appeal to you, you probably know what I am talking about). Farzin Mokhtarian, UBC, Vancouver, BC
