[net.sport.football] USFL & its rules

I saw a commercial for the upcoming season opener of the USFL the other
day on ABC. They mentioned two rules that they will be using which differ
from the NFL. First, they will have the 2-point conversion. Hurrah!!
There`s nothing like going for 2 with 3 seconds to go and you`re down by 1.
Secondly, they will allow a 1-inch tee for PATs and field goals. This
should increase the distances kickers can convert on by 5-10 yards.
I`m still going to put BASEBALL as my #1 priority, but will keep an eye
on the Chic. Blitz.

AS for Herschel, I think he should STAY in school, play 1 more year for
Georgia, and then not sign any pro contract till after the `84 Olympics.
We could use his speed in the sprints. He`ll still be able to make loads
of money after the games, possibly even more with the fame he may earn.

Another USFL rule that differs from NFL is
defensive pass interference. In the USFL, it's
a 15 yard penalty from the line of scrimmage
unless the official deems the penalty "flagrant".
If it is a flagrant foul, the ball goes to the
point of the penalty, like the NFL does all the
time.
