The API poll listed: 1. Penn State 2. SMU 3. Nebraska 4. Georgia 5. UCLA 6. Arizona State 7. Washington 8. ? 9. ? 10. Pitt Clemson 9. ? 10. Pitt I think this is correct.

Tuesday's USA Today compiled the results of eight "major" pre-season college football polls into a single composite poll. The eight polls were as follows: 1. Street & Smith 2. Game Plan 3. Pigskin Preview 4. Kyle Rote Preview 5. Gary Austin Preview 6. Playboy 7. The Sporting News 8. Sport Magazine USA Today's results look like this: 1. Oklahoma (#1 Game Plan, Gary Austin Preview) 2. Nebraska (#1 Street & Smith) 3. Texas 4. Auburn (#1 Playboy) 5. Penn State 6. Notre Dame (#1 The Sporting News) 7. Florida State 8. North Carolina (#1 Pigskin Preview, Kyle Rote Preview) 9. Michigan 10. Southern Cal 11. Ohio State 12. Arizona 13. SMU 14. Georgia 15. LSU 16. Iowa 17. Alabama 18. Arizona State 19. Florida 20. *Maryland *W. Virginia *Tie Sport Magazine thinks they know something that nobody else does, having chosen Tennessee #1.
