"If there were 60 seconds left instead of 29, I agree that the touchdown is preferable. ... However, due to the limited time ... kick NOW." Although I don't agree with it, I thought I understood the argument for having the Redskins kick. However, if it's better to kick with 29 seconds left, I can't understand why it would be better to go for the touchdown with 60 seconds left. In my opinion, the more time left, the more the decision swings toward kicking, since scoring a touchdown takes more time than getting a field goal. Either way, the Redskins' chances were slim. However, if the NFL would adopt the two-point convert, finishes like that would be much more interesting, since it would have given the Redskins a decent chance of coming back. It also would invite an interesting strategic decision of whether to go for the tie or the lead after scoring a touchdown to move to within one. They'll probably kick most of the time anyway, but there's bound to be a few exciting two-pointers tried. Besides, I'd rather see a pass or run play than a kick anyway. Fake one-point converts that are turned into two-point converts would be even more interesting. (I'm surprised I've never seen one.) Jeff Richardson DCIEM, Toronto
