[net.sport.football] Sportsmanship and Nebraska

Greg Woods:

I agree if the Nebites had only beaten Iowa State by 14-10 it would have
hurt them in the polls, but they won 72-29! Wouldn't 51-29 or 54-29 been
adequate? As I said before, you can't get any more votes
in the polls by winning by 40 to 70 points versus 30 points (I think).
This is clearly (and I mean clearly) a case of bad sportsmanship.
Further, another guy wrote in to this newsgroup and pointed out how the
Nebites used their Heisman Trophy candidate in the 4th quarter to score
two more touchdowns. Greg, I am surprised at you. I mean, Colorado has
become one of the favorite whipping boys in the Big 8 for the last few
years and is subject to this type of abuse from the Nebites and the
boys from the OK corral (as well as many other schools). You're
defending this?
