[net.sport.football] WFL yard marker

Oh, the good ol` WORLD FOOTBALL LEAGUE. Died at the ripe
young age of 2. The device they used for first down
measurements was a 1 pice device called a "Dickerrod".
It most likely was invented by a guy named Mr. Dicker.
As I recall, it had a sliding pin on it. The Dickerrod
was placed on a 5-yard-multiple line and then bent down to
the ground. Now you`ve got 1 end on the 5-yard-multiple
line and the pin is sticking into the ground where the
first-down yard stick would be in the NFL. The base of
the Dickerrod was not pointy, but squared in a fashion so
it could be bent down and make the pole parallel to the
gridiron. Understand?? The Dickerrod went the way of the
multi-colored ABA ball and the colored WTT tennis court.
