Thanks, CBS, for taking the time to show the rendition of the
Redskins fight song during yesterday's game (complete with
words on the screen so we could all sing along at home).
What a great song! What a good sounding band! Nice participation
by the fans!
We marching band connoisseurs appreciate seeing this sort of thing
once in a while.
Can anyone tell me -
a) The Redskins band. Is this some other band imported for the
occasion, or a dedicated Redskins group? They certainly had
a fine sound on TV, better than practically any group I've
seen in a while.
b) What's the heritage of "Hail to the Redskins"? Has it been
around forever?
c) Anybody else got any favourite fight songs? For my money you
can't beat Michigan's "The Victors" (which Sousa called one of
the 3 best marches of all time, and he should know). We have a
very tired-sounding song here. Gotta do something about that.
Sorry that this isn't strictly to do with football. We need net.sport.music,
or something...
