[net.sport.football] Jimmy "The #&*&#" Snyder

Let's here it for Jimmy "The Geek", once again he has
proved that he is a two faced, money grubbing idiot.
Yesterday, on network TV, he totally convinced me that
his views really are worthless.

Let's start from the beginning. Yesterday morning I picked
up my Sunday newspaper, and looked at the stats, and individual
comparisons for the upcoming games. At the bottom of the page,
was "The Geeks" infamous checklist (you know, the one that when
it was used on TV was almost always mostly blank). In analyzing
the Redskins-49'ers matchup he gave every edge, except secondary,
to the Redskins. At the bottom was the "big check" for the
Skins.

No more than 1 hour later at the end of the pre-game show (which
could easily be taken care of in 5 minutes) Brent Mussburger (sp?)
had the following exchange with our hero (the conversation is not
exact, but is as close as I can recall):

Brent: "Well Greek, at the beginning of the season you said the
49-ers would go to the Super Bowl, what do you think now?"

Jimmy: "At the beginning of the season the odds were 25-1 for the
49-ers to go, now its down to 2.5-1."

Brent: "Are you predicting the 49-ers to win today Greek?"

Jimmy: "I'm sticking with my beginning of the season picks. I'll
	say the 49-ers."

There you have it folks. The man is paid by both network TV and
a newspaper syndicate for his "expertese", and then gives different
opinions. What more needs to be said? How can you lose when you
pick both teams?

By the way, this discussion has absolutely nothing to do with whom he
picked. It could have been the Toledo Mudhens vs. Walla Walla Wallbangers
for all that it mattered. He also never mentions the spread (like
Pete Axtelm (sp?) on NBC) so that can not be used as an excuse.

Jimmy does give the spreads once in a while. I saw him do it at the
end of the second wild-card game. However, he gave them in the form,
"Miami will be favoured by 8," which sounds to me like he is predicting
what the oddsmakers will set the spread to, rather than giving his own
opinion on what will happen in the game.

Jimmy the Greek must give point spreads since they are regularly
published in the Chicago Sun Times.
