The first round of the NFL draft of 1984 college players started promptly at 8:00 EDT. The first two picks had already completed negotiations with the teams holding the appropriate picks. Things slowed down a bit after that, and the round was completed at 11:02 EDT. No really big deals took place. Kansas City traded a player to the Rams for their #1 and #5, and Buffalo and Miami swapped first-round picks, with the Bills also receiving both of Miami's third-rounders (#23 and #26 in that round). Washington used their full 15 minutes, then managed to deal their pick to the Giants, apparently for a second and a fifth. The full list of first-round picks appears below: Team Player School Pos. 1.
