OK sports fans, let's try this out. To participate in the poll, all you
have to do is send me the names and end-of-regular-season records of the
ten NFL teams you think will be in the playoffs this year. Indicate
division champions and wild card teams. The following format, representing
my selections, should give you the idea:
NFC
East Central West
Dallas 13-3 Green Bay 9-7 San Francisco 13-3
Washington 11-5 New Orleans 10-6
Playoffs: Washington over New Orleans. Dallas over Green Bay,
San Francisco over Washington. San Francisco over Dallas.
AFC
East Central West
Miami 12-4 Cleveland 10-6 Los Angeles 11-5
New England 10-6 Seattle 10-6
Playoffs: Seattle over New England. Miami over Seattle,
Cleveland over Los Angeles. Miami over Cleveland.
Super Bowl: San Francisco over Miami.
Scoring system: 20 points for each correct selection of a division champion
or wild card. 10 points for each selection making playoffs but not where
predicted (i.e., wild card pick winning division or division winner pick
in wild card spot). Subtract absolute value of difference between predicted
and actual number of wins for each team from selection total to obtain score.
Other comments, such as playoff predictions (which don't affect the scoring)
or reasons for making picks, will be collected and summarized.
All entries must be postmarked before the first kickoff of the 1984 season,
at {1 E, 12 C, 11 M, 10 P}DT on Sunday, September 4. Prizes are fame,
glory, and the satisfaction of knowing you were better than anybody else.
