And in the first week of playoffs:

Hamilton 17  Montreal 11

 Hamilton managed only 92 yards in total offense, but
their defense forced 8 turnovers as they beat Montreal
in the Eastern semi-final.  They were led by Paul
Bennett, who recovered two fumbles, returning one 51 yards
for a touchdown, and deflected a pass deep in the Hamilton
zone that was then intercepted to kill a Montreal drive.
Bernie Ruoff punted 19 times for 942 yards for Hamilton,
both playoff records.


Winnipeg 55  Edmonton 20

 Tom Clements threw four touchdown passes and ran
for another, and Willard Reaves ran for 133 yards and
2 touchdowns, as Winnipeg advanced to meet B.C. next week
in the Western final.  Clements was 24-33 for 388 yards.
