[net.sport.football] Denver's luck runs out or a funny thing happened on the way to Palo Alto

erik@ssc-vax.UUCP (Erik Strom) (12/04/84)

Well, Denver did it again this week. The weight of the whole world(not to
mention Denver's offense) was cast upon Rich(?) Karlis' shoulders again.
The Broncos tried to dodge the bullet and it hit them in the foot. Has
Denver lost their killer instinct, or is it just getting near the end of
the season? Only one team in the AFC West lost this weekend. Kansas City
the Raiders, and San Diego all put out big efforts to win while playing
for nothing but pride. (Thanx Raiders!!)

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the Seahawks roll on. Detroit played a
very tough game much like San Diego et al. The Lions gave the Hawks a
run for the money in the first half, tallying a very respectful 17 points.
They gave the Hawks fits with their game plan, which happened to work
well until Seattle revised defensive strategy at the half. We then
slammed the door in their face, while Dave Krieg tossed 5 touchdown
passes to bring his season total to 29. While Dan Marino is the undisputed
record setter in this category, Krieg has an excellent chance to pass
the old record of 36 himself. What's even nicer, is that the Seahawks are
in control of their own destiny in the division race. We still have 2
tough games left, but Chuck Knox knows how to keep a team ready to
handle the task at hand. The Hawks will win the last 2 games and then
sit back to watch Denver and the Raider slug it out for the opportunity
to play Miami. Don't you just love it?

From the lair of the Big E GO YOU SEAHAWKS!!!!!

Just for pride, huh? The Raiders are getting healthy again just in time for
the play-offs. They were healthy for their first meeting with the Seahawk, and
Seattle was beaten decisively. During the second game with the 'Hawks,
Barnwell was consistently beating Seattle's vaunted secondary deep, but
Wilson couldn't get the ball to him with that bandaged-up hand of his. The
'Hawks won by a whopping three points.

Enjoy it while you can, Seattle fans. The Silver and Black are comin' back
to "get yeh." Pray that Miami or Denver knocks them off for you, but with
Denver dying on the vine and the results of last Sunday's Raiders-Dolphins
game, you'd better pray real hard!
