Every week, the Portland Breakers run a play called the "Fan Play". These plays are submitted by the fans and the team selects a new one to use each week. They usually run the play in a first or second down situation. The "Fan Play" used in last Monday night's game against San Antonio was interesting. It's first down, 10 to go, break huddle and RUN to the following position: | - - | | | | - - | | | |---45---------------------------------------------------------------| | X X X X X X X X | | 1 - | | X 2 | | - - | | | | - - | | | The Gunslinger's Defense was running all over the place, totally confused. They didn't know which side of the field to cover. A quick snap to the quarterback (1), a quick pass to the wide receiver (2) and they're off for a 15 yard gain! Unfortunately, one of the Breakers was called for encroachment which resulted in a 5 yard loss on the play.
