Why no talk on the USFL?? No interest?? I'll start it off by saying that if I were Hershel, I'd go with new league and become a millionaire over night. I could always finish college in the off-season. Who know's, he may suffer an injury if he plays another year at Georgia (If they let him), then what whould he be worth?? I have some questions on the upcoming USFL season. 1) Does anyone have a list of the current USFL teams? 2) When does the USFL schedule start? 3) Which teams look good for this year? Michigan, Philadelphia, Arizona? Allen England at AT&T Bell Laboratories, Naperville, IL ihnp4!ihuxb!alle

It's hard to get excited about the USFL when you've got Keith Jackson's
and Lynn Swann's palid imitation of big league coverage - oh brother I
am tired of their predictable comments! It's hard also when the games
are shown during prime outside, play-with-your-family time (2:30 PM
EDST, Sunday, in warm weather). Finally, it's hard when *every*
receiver is always wide open on *every* pass play.
There are some nice running games, though, with genuine superstars such
as Kelvin Bryant of the Stars.

My favorite team (held over from last year) are the Houston Gamblers. Love that
run n' shoot offense!
Coming up from behind rather quickly though are the Flutie-Generals.
AND ...
Maurice Carthon will be a NY GIANT in '85!

A question for all you netters: Does anybody where you are ever talk about the USFL? I know of no body who does. Much less, the mere concept of spring football is appalling for me.

In Denver, where the Broncos have a 25,000 name waiting list for season tickets, the USFL Gold is drawing about 10,000 a game in a 75,000 seat stadium. If the USFL can't make it in a football crazy city like this one (and a city with no major league baseball to compete for the sports dollar), I doubt if they can make it anywhere.

let's face it, the USFL is dead, or soon will be. i've always thought the USFL was "bad" for pro football, and i'll be glad to see it go under. boomer sooner, ron vaughn ...!ihnp4!ihdev!rjv

Part of that is the fickle fan syndrome too. The Denver Mold were drawing much better last year when they were 8-1 and in first place by three games, before they folded (perhaps Denver Fold is an even better name!) and went 8-8 for the year, not even making the playoffs. I'd like to go to a Gold game, but 2/3 of the games are on Monday nights this year and I'm busy Mondays. I'm going to try and go to the one remaining home Sunday game (I forget when that is). --Greg -- {ucbvax!hplabs | allegra!nbires | decvax!noao | harpo!seismo | ihnp4!noao} !hao!woods CSNET: woods@NCAR ARPA: woods%ncar@CSNET-RELAY "Please don't dominate the rap Jack, if you got nothing new to say..."
