I am willing to keep a record > of people's predictions as to which team's will: > > 1) Win each Division > 2) Win the Wild Card spots in each Conference > 3) Win the Conference Championships > 4) Win the Super Bowl > AFC EAST - Miami Dolphins AFC CENTRAL - Pittsburgh Steelers AFC WEST - Seattle Seahawks WILD CARD - New England Patriots WILD CARD - Los Angeles Raiders NFC EAST - Washington Redskins NFC CENTRAL - Chicago Bears NFC WEST - San Francisco 49ers WILD CARD - St. Louis Cardinals WILD CARD - Green Bay Packers AFC CHAMPION - Miami Dolphins NFC CHAMPION - San Francisco 49ers SUPER BOWL CHAMP - San Francisco 49ers NOTES: AFC EAST: The Dolphins have next to no competition in this division and should win it easily. The Patriots are a sure bet for a Wild-Card birth since they have six free wins (courtesy of Jets, Bills & Jolts). The Jolts will win three games this season, only because Art Schlichter will bet against his own team and end up winning!!!! (He's really that bad - Let's hear it for Mike Pagel - There are worse things than being a Packer fan (-:< ). AFC CENTRAL: This division is a joke!!! Pittsburgh's six victories in their own division will be plenty to hold off the rest of the division. I can't imagine anything more exciting than watching the Oilers and Browns stumble over each other in what was intended to be a National Football League contest. No team in this division (other than the Steelers) has a chance for Wild Card unless the Wild Card happens to be a JOKER, in which case the Brown, Bengals & Oilers can all look forward to post-season play. Could anyone out there in net-land let me know what it's like to be a Browns' fan? (-: AFC WEST: My heart is with the Chiefs but I have to be realistic. The Seahawks and Raiders are just to steady. I do reserve the right to place the Broncos in the playoffs if Elway should get injured, however. NFC EAST: The 'Skins are the safe pick here, although I think the Cardinals could eek out the division with the 'Skins getting the Wild-Card. The Gi-Ants could also surprise a few people this year now that they have a (tsk tsk) running game. It's just too bad Phil Simms doesn't have anybody worth throwing to (Sorry Gi-Ant fans, but Lofton, Jefferson & Coffman have thoroughly spoiled me). The most inspiring aspect of this upcoming season is that the Cowpies will probably not even go .500. Yahoo!!!!! NFC CENTRAL: Even though I am a die-hard Packer fan, I have to go with the (puke puke barf) Bears in this division. Hopefully McMahon will get hurt again this year (-: !!! The only other chance the Pack has is that the Bears will be stupid enough to hand-off to Chopped Suhey again this year. NFC WEST: The 49ers appear to be the clear-cut best again. They have a solid defense, diversified offense and sound kicking game. They also have the Saints, Rams & Falcons in their division. The Niners will probably throw for more yardage than those three combined. The Rams are the only other team in this division with a chance for the Wild Card and Mr. Dickerson will have to have even a better year than last if that is going to happen. Well, let's hear the flames!!!!!! Dan Van Handel drutx!dtvh P.S. Isn't this fun???

So far, so good. > AFC WEST: My heart is with the Chiefs but I have to be realistic. > The Seahawks and Raiders are just to steady. I could see it if you were a Colts fan (a question to all those who don't already live there: would YOU want to live in Baltimore/D.C. area? GAG!! Can you blame him? :-) Back to football: the man has TALENT. He needs to mature a little, which means reduce the tendency to panic (which I think he improved quite a lot at last year) and reduce the tendency to throw uncatchable bullets. There is no one better at escaping the rush, and he's big enough to do some serious running (although it gives Dan Reeves grey hairs when he does!). With a little seasoning, I think Elway has the potential to be one of the best in the game. He reminds me of Roger Staubach in terms of playing style. I think Roger called a better game (but that came from experience), but Elway's arm is amazing. All he needs is a little experience, and then look out. I've already seen some pretty amazing plays. He just lacks a little consistency. Too bad HE doesn't have anyone worth throwing to. Well, there is Steve Watson, but when you only have one decent receiver, you can count on him always being double-covered. Watson continues to have good years anyway. What the Broncos need is a deep threat. A running attack wouldn't hurt either! :-) > NFC EAST: The 'Skins are the safe pick here. Be careful with your wordings! We in Washington D.C. don't give a damn to the Dolts. We don't care whether Elway wanted to play in Baltimore or not. People in D.C. only follow the 'Skins. By the way, as Redskins fans, we all know Elway is no match to Theismann now. He may be a better QB in 1990, but not before Theismann retires. -- A diehard 'Skins fan -- Eddy Lor ...!(ihnp4,ucbvax)!ucla-cs!lor lor@LOCUS.UCLA.EDU
