"Tell Leonard to pick his losers! Tell what's-his-name Scott to unplug his machine! Tell Pete Axthelm to get a haircut! And tell Jimmy to go back to Greece!" Those were just some of the comments made by our own George as he picked a plethora of pigskin perfection (god, I love alliteration) this past weekend. Out of 38 games, George picked 30 winners, 6 losers and only lost 2 to his spread. For the year it gives him 111-43-31==185 which translates to an even 60%. "I told you I'd get better," George mumbled to himself as he churned out another week of picks and his expert Top twenty or so for this week. As far as the spread record is concerned, George had his best week in the low range but still couldn't pick the trounces. The spreads looked like an inverted bell curve. "Give me a shot at basketball and I'll show your Vegas pals," George shouted. Here's his spread total: Points 0-4 5-9 10-14 15-19 20-up Total Week 7 13 5 4 4 12 38 Season 44 42 27 20 52 185 It seems that the race for number one has turned into a horse race. I'll take it, no you take, no I'll take it, etc. Teams are just flip-floppring left and right. Only a couple of newcomers this week and both from the SEC. It seems to be raining cats and dogs from there as Kentucky and the Farmer's College down the road from here make themselves known. George's Top Twenty (or so) - Week eight 1. Michigan Wolverines 12. UCLA Bruins 2. Nebraska Cornhuskers 13. Baylor Bears 3. Air Force Falcons 14. Maryland Terrapins 4. Brigham Young Cougars 15. Miami Hurricanes 5. Oklahoma Sooners 16. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 6. But I see some holes in his games and I doubt that he will have as good a week as he did last week. But who knows with this crazy game. George may be patting himself on the back, but something must of hit him in the head. I know Penn State has not looked super impressive in their victories but they did manage to beat Alabama so I do think they at least desire a spot higher than them in your rating system. I don't find them in your top 20. Come now I may be a bit biased but I think that anyone looking at the facts would agree.

I don't know what's wrong with George, but he blew it! Iowa is much better than the 10th ranking that he gives them. I feel that Saturday's game between Michigan and Iowa is going to be very close, with either team coming up with the win (he who scores last...). Tell George that he can pat himself on the back if he wants (he could break his arm doing that!), but I think that he needs his head examined! Robert A. Ekblaw
