I have never been more appalled by a lack of sportsmanship as I was at last Mondays football game between Denver and San Francisco. If unruly behavior is permitted to exist in that pigpen called Mile High Stadium, the honor of proffesional football will be passed on the wayside. What appalls me the most is that the scum who threw the snowball at the 49er holder is probably bragging to his friends that he won the game for the Broncos. If not for the abhorent fan participation, this would have been one of the best games I have seen this year. I also felt that the official was spineless in not assessing an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the Denver crowd, or at least calling a replay of the down. To the fellow that through the snowball at the injured umpire: You are disgusting! I'm mad as HELL and I'm not going to take it anymore!!! -- Rich Rodgers tektronix!iddic!richr

Since you work for Tektronics, I assume you are a fan of the Seahawks. If so, you should be well aware of the Denver fans by now. And now for the Denver fans: What a class group! Nice of you to show the rest of the country what sports fans from Colorado are like. You should really be proud of yourselves! -- John A. Muth ...!{ihnp4,hplabs,sun,nsc}!amdahl!muth

The officiating at that game was horrendous! The Denver team played well, but their fans belittled their efforts by being so obnoxious. I have seen teams given penalties because the crowd was so loud that the other team couldn't function offensively. Why then couldn't the ref call the Broncos for a penalty when a fan DIRECTLY interfered with the play? I hope that one day the Broncos lose a game because a fan throws something on the field and hits/distracts a player! -- Darren Kadish

> I have never been more appalled by a lack of sportsmanship as I was at last > Mondays football game between Denver and San Francisco. I have. When I get called "pig spit" by some jerk in Oregon who associates ME with the person engaging in dangerous, juvenile behavior at Monday's football game just because we happen to like the same football team. Go back to elementary school, Rich, where attitudes like yours belong. > If unruly behavior is > permitted to exist in that pigpen called Mile High Stadium, the honor of > proffesional football will be passed on the wayside It is not permitted nor encouraged to throw objects onto the field at Mile High Stadium, just like any other NFL stadium. They have the obligatory announcement to that effect before the game, just as in any other NFL stadium. If caught, the snowball thrower could have been ejected from the stadium and even arrested, just as in any other NFL stadium. > What appalls me the most >is that the scum who threw the snowball at the 49er holder is probably bragging > to his friends that he won the game for the Broncos. How do you know this? Are you clairvoyant? > If not for the abhorent > fan participation, this would have been one of the best games I have seen this > year. It WAS one of the best games this year. It was back-and-forth and in doubt down to the last play. Too bad the 49'ers CHOKED. > I also felt that the official was spineless in not assessing an > unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the Denver crowd, or at least calling a > replay of the down. There is no such penalty on the books. Maybe there SHOULD be, but there isn't. You cannot rightfully call an official "spineless" for failure to enforce a rule that doesn't exist. I hear the league is now considering instituting such a rule. > To the fellow that through the snowball at the injured umpire: > You are disgusting! I agree, but I fail to see how you can generalize one or two jerks to all Bronco fans. And he is hardly the only person ever to throw a snowball at an NFL game. I also think that you cannot blame the 49'ers loss on that one play. They choked, that's the bottom line. They had MANY chances to put the game away, and simply blew it. It's just sour grapes, Rich. --Greg
