With all this talk about lucky Denver, lucky LA, etc., I think Saturday's game proved where the luck is. Denver is lucky to still be alive. What luck, you ask? Denver was lucky that KC's coach is a strategic idiot. What's even more amazing is that the commentators had no comment on his stupidity, nor did anyone on Sunday, nor did anyone in the newspapers. What did he do that was so stupid? Nothing. It's what he DIDN'T do. With a six point lead, about a minute left, and forth down on their own 20, KC naturally lined up to punt. What amazed me is that they did punt. A six point lead is the optimum time for a deliberate safety. It could have been done absolutely safely, especially with a delay penalty. Thus no chance of a block, and Denver gets the ball at least 10-15 yards farther away. It seems so obvious. Can't coaches think in the heat of battle?
