[net.sport.football] THE PACK AIN'T BACK

dtvh@drutx.UUCP (VanHandelDT) (12/13/85)

I would like to take this moment to inform the net.football audience
that I am officially resigning as a Green Bay Packer fan. For God's
sake, when will they wake up?????

	1) Lynn Dickey was bad enough . . .

	2) Jim Zorn is not only signed but has been starting!!! (ARGH!!!)

	3) Now they've signed the only player the Bills didn't want -
Vince Ferragamo. If the Bills can't use him, he's gotta be
	   hurtin' !!!!

	4) . . . Come next spring I am convinced that Bobby Douglass
will be back in a Packer uniform. (-: (-:

In the meantime, GO BEARS!!!!!!!!

It's obvious you never were a LOYAL Packer fan. I agree with your assessment of
their quarterback situation but it's hardly enough to make me stop being a fan.
After so many years of losing and remaining faithful, there's no way I'll stop
now. A loyal fan will stay through thick and thin, we've just had more thin.
Don't get me wrong, it is our right to criticize management's decisions. All
fans want a winner.

Where have all of these Bear fans come from? Do I detect an epidemic of
jumping on the bandwagon?

                                    A frustrated Packer fan,
                                      Terry Bermes

So much for loyalty these days.. <Sigh>

I've been a Packer fan for as long as I can remember. I've even
managed to go see them play a few times, even though I grew up in
southern California, and now I am in New Jersey (overshot Wisconsin
just a bit, geography was never my strong point). Granted, the
quarterback situation has been dreadful pretty much ever since Bart
Starr left, and I think Packer fans have got every right to moan and
complain about it; in the intervening years it shouldn't have been
too hard to get just ONE guy who was really good. But I'm still sticking
with my team-- the Bears are doing good now, and (much as it pains
me to admit it) they deserve to do well, they've been on hard times
for a while too. But I've always rooted for Green Bay, and I'll
continue to do so through thin and thin-one day they'll rise again
(but not until they get a good QB... and square away a few other
things like convincing themselves that defense isn't a four-letter word)

GO PACKERS!!!

Boy do I agree with all you've said, Terry. I suspect that if the Pack went
11-5 next year, all of a sudden we'd see 6 dozen LOYAL Packer fans on the
net. So the Bear fan phenomenon isn't too phenomenal -:).

There's always 5 years from now,
