It's finally over. George's national champion based on his power rating points is the............. M I C H I G A N W O L V E R I N E S It was close. If Oklahoma beat Penn St by 20 instead of 15, we would have had co-champions. Michigan finished with a power rating of 132. The other ratings are listed with George's final top twenty or so of the season. As far as picking winners is concerned, George finished the season above 50%. For the bowl games, he picked 6 winners, 7 losers and lost 4 to his spread. He picked the All American bowl on the head (Tech 17-14) and was off by one on the Fiesta Bowl (Michigan 27-23 - George said Mich by 3). His total for the season was 241-110-96==447 which translates to percentages of 54-45-21. As for George's spread record, here's his table: Points 0-4 5-9 10-14 15-19 20-up Total Bowls 3 8 2 1 3 17 Season 105 111 73 51 107 447 Percentages 24 25 16 11 24 Now here is George's final top twenty or so for the 1985 NCAA Football season. Included are our power rating points for the teams. In the case of a tie, ranking is based on past week's rankings plus a little subjectivity of the poster. We are a little disappointed that 1) Penn St isn't higher but we explained that in an earlier posting; and 2) Georgia Tech is not rated above Georgia. Oh well, that's life. Here's the list: George's Top Twenty (or so) - Grand Finale 1. Michigan Wolverines (132) 12. Ohio State Buckeyes (123) 2. Oklahoma Sooners (131) 13. Baylor Bears (123) 3. Nebraska Cornhuskers (129) 14. Florida Gators (122) 4. Tennessee Volunteers (127) 15. Alabama Crimson Tide (122) 5. Air Force Falcons (126) 16. Auburn Tigers (122) 6. Brigham Young Cougars (126) 17. Arkansas Razorbacks (121) 7. UCLA Bruins (125) 18. Georgia Bulldogs (121) 8. Miami Hurricanes (125) 19. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (120) 9. Texas A&M Aggies (124) 20. Penn State Nittany Lions (119) 10. Maryland Terrapins (124) 21. Florida State Seminoles (118) 11. Iowa Hawkeyes (124) 22. Southern Methodist Mustangs (118) Well, that ends it for us here in football season. We hope you enjoyed reading our postings as much as we enjoyed creating them. We hope to do this next year. Maybe we won't post all of George's predictions, but continue posting his top twenty or so and do a mailing list for the predictions (like we are in basketball). We thank everyone who took the time to drop us a line about how we do things and how wrong (or right) we were in the predictions. Thank you for your time and interest. Have a happy 1986.
