Lets see how Sports Illustrated did this past year in picking the top twenty college football teams. PRE-SEASON TOP 20 FINAL TOP 20 ------------------ --------------------------- 1) Washington 1) Oklahoma 2) Florida 2) Michigan 3) Oklahoma 3) Penn State 4) SMU 4) Florida 5) Maryland 5) Tennessee 6) Nebraska 6) Miami 7) Ohio State 7) Air Force 8) USC 8) Texas A&M 9) Iowa 9) UCLA 10) Arkansas 10) Iowa 11) Illinois 11) Alabama 12) Auburn 12) Arkansas 13) BYU 13) Nebraska 14) UCLA 14) Ohio State 15) Notre Dame 15) Maryland 16) South Carolina 16) Florida State 17) Boston College 17) Fresno State 18) LSU 18) BYU 19) Oklahoma State 19) Georgia Tech 20) Virginia 20) Baylor Looking at the Final top 8 we see S.I. did a good job at picking Oklahoma and Florida, but none of the other Final top 8 are even in the top 20 of the pre-season list. That's not too good. Overall 9 teams from the pre-season list made it on the post-season list. Even I could do that good.

Didn't somebody do a study whichindicated that Sports Illustrated was the worst at prediciting top 20's in both (college) football and basketball? -- James C. Armstrong, Jnr. {ihnp4,cbosgd,akgua}!abnji!nyssa "It's a sort of mini-clone!" Who said them, what story?
