Wash vs. L.A as I see it: Let's break these teams up according to strengths: First offense: Theismann vs. Plunkett- I have to go with Theismann here because of his mobility and his non-panic type of attitude. Plunkett tends to get into trouble by trying to force things to happen such as shovel passes while in the grasp of a big defender etc.... Riggins vs. Allen- What can I say about these two? Riggins, the newest member of the hogs can just about carry an entire defensive line downfield. Give Allen the slightest bit of daylight and he's gone. However for consistency I have to go with Riggins. Offensive lines: The Skins have the biggest in the NFL. Theismanns success shows what the offensive line is about. Defensive lines: I give the nod to the Raiders here, but only because of the presence of Alzado Secondary: With Hayes and Haynes roaming around, Theismann has his work cut out for him.... I have to give a slight edge to L.A. here... Special Teams: This area could be the key to victory! Moseley has to be the deadliest kicker around dispite his poor showing against the 49'ers. Game outcome: If the Skins are to make a game of it, they must not be intimidated by the likes of the Raiders. Ideally, they must score first. Avoid needless penalties such as roughhousing, which would be playing into the hands of the Raiders, at the same time be the agressor of the two teams. They must develope a balanced offensive attack of rushing Riggins and Theismann' passing. Their tight end could play an important role in their passing game. They will probably have better success with the short pass then the long. The Raiders on the other hand need to come out of the lockers breathing fire. To really show their butt's off, Alzado and hendricks need to take the field with a slab of raw pork ribs clamped between their teeth... Plunkett has to remember that he can't turn nothing into something everytime he gets into trouble. He tends to panic when the defense gets the better of the offensive line. Markus Allen needs a +100 yrd. day, which he will probably get. With a shakey Skins pass defense, Raider receivers could have a field day. Especially their tight-end Christiensen(sp?)... Over all, I look for a fairly high scoring game, with the Skins scoring first, but the Raiders taking the lead and keeping it till late in the game when Moseley kicks a game winning field goal. Final score: Washington 34 L.A. 31....... Till next NFL season, Ray, ihnp4!ihuxi!rcj1

I think the betting line is still Redskins by 3. Raiders will beat the spread. But then I'm not a gambling man. Carl W. Amport Naperville, IL. (L. A. by 4)

The Pats will mount a final scoring drive in the last four minutes of the game to rally from a 20-17 deficit and win the Super Bowl by a final score of: 24 - 20 Remember that you read it here first!!!!! -- Gary Knight, 3604 Pinnacle Road, Austin, TX 78746 (512/328-2480).
