VLSI DESIGN
POSITION OPEN FOR VLSI DESIGN MANAGER IN NORWAY
The Kongsberg company Elektronikkindustriens
Testsenter(ETS), the major Norwegian company for
qualification and testing of LSI- and VLSI-components, is
in the process of establishing a department for design
center services. We are looking for an experienced design
engineer (gate arrays, standard cell and full custom)
looking for career advancements, and ready to take
managerial responsibility.
The person we seek will probably be in this thirties,
ready to take reponsibility for building up a design team
and opening up a new business sector at ETS.
ETS is a share company owned by the 35 major Norwegian
electronic companies, serving the owners as well as other
customers in Scandinavia. We are developing test programs
for and testing the major share of application specific
circuits so far designed by Norwegian companies. We will
now offer design services, mainly to the many medium sized
and smaller companies that do not have their own design
group.
ETS will initially specialize in gate array design, aiming
at a large field of customers. However, after having
established ourselves firmly in this lower market end, we
want to grow with our customers through standard cell into
full custom design.
Because of our special position in the Norwegian market
this will be given first priority. Later expansion into
the other Nordic markets will follow.
Kongsberg is a small town of 25000 inhabitants located in
the valley of Numedal 50 miles south-west of Oslo. The
town is an old silver mining town with industrial
traditions going back to the sixteen hundreds. The
dominant industry today is Kongsberg Vaapenfabrikk (KV)
with 4000 employees locally producing data systems,
turbines, rockets and other weapon systems. KV, ETS'
largest share holder, is an internationally oriented
company which employs a large group of British and
American nationals living in Kongsberg.
The Kongsberg area is an outdoorman's paradise, with
numerous possibilities for hiking, fishing, hunting,
canoeing and of course skiing in the winter season. We
are one hour away from Oslo Airport by car.
If you are interested in talking to us send a word over
the UNIX network or write to: ETS, att: Dr. Helge
Christensen, Kapermoen 22, N-3600 Kongsberg, Norway.
